Just saw this on Pinterest and wanted to share. There are marked differences between positivity, validation, and support versus the opposite of those things. But sometimes it’s hard to tell. Well-meaning or not, we’ve all uttered versions of the comments in the left column. Sharing for myself and all of us.

This is so good! The desire and pressure to always be upbeat and positive all the time can truly be toxic. I feel like so many people are pushed beyond their mental boundaries and capacities due to this pressure as opposed to be encouraged to explore and accept negative emotions and know that they’re ok. They’re apart of life! We deserve the time to feel – whatever it might be
Indeed. Negative emotions happen. The key is not pretending as if they don’t exist and actively helping one another through those feelings while acknowledging them.
